On Saturday morning in Pune’s Loni Kalbhor neighbourhood, two young sisters were killed and their uncle suffered critical injuries when a speeding truck struck the motorcycle they were riding.
Gayatri Nandkumar Shitole, 17, and Rajashree Nandkumar Shitole, 10, were named as the deceased, and Pandurang Navnath Bhikshe was named as the injured (42).
After the collision, the driver sped away from the site after leaving the car.
Around 7 o’clock in the morning, a speeding truck struck the two girls’ car while Bhikshe was riding the motorcycle, according to senior inspector Rajendra Mokashi. Locals assisted the victims and alerted the responding police.
According to Mokashi, the CCTV footage showed Bhikshe trying to pass another vehicle when the truck struck his motorcycle.
