Uddhav Thackeray invited too, says Assam CM; Congress asks Maharashtra MLAs to leave

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, continued to be unmoved by criticism regarding the presence in Guwahati of rebel Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde and MLAs who are backing his uprising against Uddhav Thackeray. In his coup attempt, Shinde has received the support of more than 40 MLAs.

Sarma appeared to be very open about the MLAs staying at a posh hotel while Guwahati witnessed protests by members of the Congress’ state unit on Friday, asking that the breakaway group leaders leave the state. “I extend this invitation to every MLA in the nation. How can I discourage people from visiting the hotels owned by the state? Not at all a federal system.”

For me, it’s a cause for immense joy. When asked what he would like to advise Uddhav Thakeray, Himanta Sarma responded, “I would tell him.. he should also come to the state for vacation,” in a statement to news agency ANI.

After the Trinamool Congress uproar on Thursday, Assam witnessed protests for the second day in a row. Workers for the Congress were seen in Guwahati protesting.
