Eugeneson Lyngdoh, the United Democratic Party's (UDP) incumbent Mawphlang Constituency MLA, declared on Wednesday that he will not be running for the 2023 Assembly elections

Eugeneson Lyngdoh, the United Democratic Party's (UDP) incumbent Mawphlang Constituency MLA, declared on Wednesday that he will not be running for the 2023 Assembly elections. After the passing of his father SK Sunn in 2021, the UDP lawmaker had won the by-election. Lyngdoh stated that he left politics for personal reasons.
When asked how the UDP's newly created circle would go about tracking down potential candidates, Lyngdoh responded that it would.
When asked if not running in the 2023 elections was a loss for the UDP, Lyngdoh responded that it depends on how one views it, but he personally believes that whatever he has done has been for the party's benefit.
Lyngdoh added that he is an official UDP member and that he will put his all into supporting the group in the upcoming Assembly election.
