In the midst of the continuing confrontation between Russia and Ukraine on Ukrainian land, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. He sought PM Modi’s support at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
I spoke with India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and informed him of the strategy for repelling Russian assault. On our territory, there are more than 100,000 invaders. They fire on residential buildings in a stealthy manner. We’ve been pleading with the Security Council to lend us political backing. Together, we must put an end to the aggressor!
India refrained from voting on a UN Security Council resolution denouncing Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine, which was sponsored by the United States. The Indian capital stated that the best way to overcome conflicts and disputes was through discussion, and expressed “regret” that diplomacy had been abandoned.
