On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged European leaders to “wake up” as the continent’s largest nuclear power facility, Zaporizhzhia, caught fire, while also calling for “urgent action” against Russia.
Ukraine has urged all world leaders to “take immediate action to avert a nuclear disaster.”
Following the Russian army’s attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear reactor, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an urgent address in which he appealed for prompt action.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Moscow of using “nuclear terror” as part of its ongoing assault on Kyiv.
According to the mayor of the nearby town of Energodar, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility in Ukraine, Europe’s largest of its kind, was set ablaze early Friday by Russian troops. While fierce fighting and shelling continue in some parts of Ukraine, Russian and Ukrainian delegates gathered in Brest on Thursday for the second round of negotiations on the Russian invasion.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that if Ukraine falls to Russian soldiers, the Baltic States may follow. He also stated that the “only option” to stop the war is to have “direct negotiations” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. On February 24, Russia launched a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine, displacing over a million people in under a week.
