A devastating news from Bengal, at least 10 people died due to electrocution in the van who were travelling in the van on Sunday at midnight 12:30 am. Whereas the other 16 in the van had been referred to Jalpaiguri hospital. As many as 10 people died in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar after a pick up van carrying passengers to Jalpesh bought electrocuted, in which most of them were youth and in their early 20s.
Explaining about the scenario for cause of accident Additional Superintendent of Police, Matabhanga, Amit Verma said that, ” the incident took place around between 12 am to 12:30 am, on Sunday at Dharla Bridge under Mekhliganj PS where one pick up van carrying passengers on its way to Jalpesh got electrocuted due to the wiring of diesel generator which was fitted in the back of the vehicle, as per the preliminary enquiry reports”. Adding to that he speaks about the condition of passengers who were almost 27 travelling in that van, “all the passengers were brought to Changrabandha BPHC, where the attending Medical Officer declared 10 out 27 dead and referred rest to Jalpaiguri District Hospital for better treatment. Although the other 16 had minor injuries but the thorough check-up was required at the moment.
As per the reports, almost all of them belonged to Sitalkuchi PS space and their family has been informed for the same. The dead bodies have been handed over to their respective families and rest passenger’s family were informed about the hospital in which they were referred. And according to ASP Varma, the vehicle has also been seized, however the driver escaped as he ran away the moment this incident occurred. But a probe has been ordered to look over the mishap, that will also clear and discern the matter if the vehicle had required permission to install and use the music system on board.
