The State Government of Meghalaya has listed 17 names of students stranded in Ukraine’s war-torn country, but the list may grow as more information becomes available. The evacuation of Indian citizens from the centre is underway, Centre’s activation of an operation to remove stranded Indian nationals. Ten MBBS students from the state are among the students.
State government officials are in contact with the MEA and the Indian Ambassador to Ukraine, according to Chief Secretary Rebecca V Suchiang.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has communicated with MEA officials, according to Cabinet Minister James PK Sangma, and the administration is in continual contact with the Centre.
For students and citizens from Meghalaya trapped in Ukraine, the government has established two helplines: 9366066565 and 9863257261.
The state government also released a list of 17 students stuck across Ukraine, saying it was in contact with the MEA to ensure that all of the students were safely evacuated.
The list includes the names of Richie Kalra (Bishnupur), Ishika Debnath (Laitumkhrah), Deepak Kumar (Lower Paltan Bazar), Ibapynbianghunlang Nongkynrih (Nongrah), Shreejana Pradhan (Happy Valley), Medarisha Kurbah (Upper Shillong), Vicky Nongsiej, Synshar Tariang, Balapynsuk Synrem, Balarikordor Kharsati, Eunica Lawai Lyngdoh, Iwadamon Suchiang, Lashantihun Syiem, Dajiedkyrpang Rymbai, Mebaaishisha Paliar, Phiba Marbaniang and Decyful Nongrum.
Meanwhile, it was informed by the Indian officials in Ukraine that over 470 Indian students will be evacuated from Ukraine and enter Romania to finally reach India.
