Sikkim: CM Prem Singh Tamang Declares 27th July As “Sarthi Diwas”

Before, on 26th July Transport Minister Sanjeet Kharel had made the appeal to public that on 27th July 2022 “Sarathi Sammelan Diwas” will be observed at Reshithang, Gangok District. Also, that the CM Prem Singh Tamang will be awarding vehicle to 6 drivers across 6 districts of Sikkim as a part of social gesture to inspire our Sarathis in the event.

Influenced by great Mahabharata Prem Singh Tamanng, the Chief Minister of Sikkim announced that the state government will officially declare the name “Sarathi” for all the drivers, also July 27 would be declared as SARATHI DIWAS “restricted holiday” dedicated to the vehicle drivers.

CM Golay shared with people who were present there that, in the past, nobody ever considered as declaring a day for drivers or giving them any sort of respect by uplifting them in society. But it is about the past government who never thought in such way. Being the witness of that kind of ruling, we have always been thinking for the betterment of our vehicle drivers, and their huge contribution to the state.

Addressing the Sarathi Sammelan Diwas in Reshithang CM said that, you need to be the owner of your respective vehicles. Adding to that he said that you people were the part of society and now have been on stage declared as part of society, now no one will look down upon you for being a driver, even if the government comes.
