54.23 lakh Gold Smuggled in Food Processer; apprehended at Lucknow airport
At the Lucknow Airport, a guy was detained for smuggling gold worth Rs 54.23 lakh by concealing it in a food processing machine.
The traveler arrived at Lucknow airport from Dubai on Monday, and gold weighing 1047.000 grams worth Rs 54,23,460 was recovered from a food processor he was carrying, according to a senior Customs official.
According to the authority, the suspicious traveler was intercepted based on profiling.
“He lives in Delhi.” He was returning from a brief trip overseas. One abnormally hefty Geepas brand Food processor machine was discovered during the assessment of baggage, i.e. the trolley bag. “A yellow coloured disc in two sections was retrieved during the cutting of the abovementioned machine, which was proved to be of gold by the valuer,” the official stated.
Section 110 of the Customs Act was used to seize gold. Section 104 of the Act was invoked to place the accused under arrest.
He was brought before the court by a customs employee who submitted a plea demanding that he be sent to judicial custody. The court remanded the defendants to judicial custody after hearing their arguments.
