7 new minister including Babul Supriyo takes oath as cabinet re-shuffles in West Bengal
On Wednesday, the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government swore in seven new ministers, including former BJP MP Babul Supriyo. Two additional individuals were sworn in as ministers with separate charges.
Snehasis Chakraborty, Partha Bhowmick, Udayan Guha, Pradip Mazumder, Tajmul Hossain, and Satyajit Barman were the six MLAs who took the oath of office as ministers in addition to Supriyo. Both Birbaha Hansda and Biplab Roy Chowdhury took the oath of office as ministers with separate responsibilities.
This is the first cabinet reshuffle since the Trinamool Congress swept back into power for a third consecutive term last year occurs as pressure mounts over the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) detention of senior minister Partha Chatterjee in the school jobs scam case.
