9 dead in minibus accident in J&K’s Poonch, L-G announces ₹5 lakh as ex gratia
On Wednesday morning, a minibus accident in the Sawjian neighbourhood of Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in at least nine fatalities and numerous injuries. According to ANI, which cited the tehsildar, the injured were taken urgently to a hospital in Mandi for treatment. The rescue effort is currently in progress.
Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of J&K, expressed his sympathies to the grieving families and offered a payment of 5 lakh as an ex gratia to the deceased’s heirs. According to Sinha, instructions have been provided to the civil and police authorities to treat the injured as effectively as possible.
“Disturbed by the loss of life caused by a traffic accident in Sawjian, Poonch. Condolences for the families of the deceased. I hope the injured get better quickly. The deceased person’s nearest of kin would receive Rs. 5 lakh. instructed Civil and Police agencies to assist injured people as best as they could,” Sinha tweeted.
