A video of beating a pregnant forest guard has gone viral: Accused Arrested

A former sarpanch and his wife are accused of thrashing a lady forest guard, who is three months pregnant, and her husband at a village in Maharashtra’s Satara district, police said on Thursday.

They claimed the event occurred on Wednesday at Palsawade village in the western Maharashtra district, about 120 kilometres from here.

According to authorities, the accused person, a member of the local forest management committee, was enraged that the woman forest guard had taken the contractual forest labourers with her “without his consent.”

On social media, a video of the assault event has gone viral.

Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray shared the footage on his Twitter account on Thursday, saying, “The accused was caught this morning and will face the full force of the law. This type of behaviour will not be condoned.”

The accused individual is a former sarpanch of the village and a member of the local forest management committee, according to Satara Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Kumar Bansal.

“He and his wife reportedly assaulted the three-month-pregnant woman forest guard because the accused was enraged that the guard had taken the contractual forest labourers with her without his authorization,” he added.

According to him, a case has been filed against the two at the Satara taluka police station.
