Gujarati Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) said it has decided to increase milk prices by ₹ 2 per litre in all of India markets where Amul is marketing its fresh milk, effective from March 1.
Amul milk will apparently hike their prices by Rs 2 per litre, this increased cost translates to only a 4% markup.
The price of Milk has been increased to ₹ 30 per 500 ml in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets and to ₹ 27 per 500ml in other markets. These are the prices for Amul Gold, Amul Taaza and Amul Shakti. This change was instituted to compensate for inflation and support production costs for farming.
Amul hiked milk prices by ₹ 2 per litre. The Gulaba Cooperative Marketing and Manufacturing federation of India Limited (GCMMF) said that in the last two years, Amul, a milk producing company, has made only 4% increase per annum in prices of its fresh milk category.
Raising prices to ₹ 2 per litre, Amul can still pass along more of that cost to the consumer. Farmer’s price also went up since they are receiving at least 80 paise of every rupee paid which is a 5% increase from last year.GCMMF had last hiked milk prices in July 2021 by ₹ 2 per litre.
