ANIMALS STORY: Learn About The “King Of The Jungle” Powerful Roar

The lion is a symbol of strength, power, and ferocity. They are also known as the “king of the beast” or “king of the jungle”, usually now they only live in parts of Africa and India.

Male lions scare off intruders and warn the pride of potential danger. It’s also a show of power among other males. Lion roars can be heard from up to 5 miles away.

WATCH THE CONSTANT SOFT ROAR

They are carnivorous mammals that live within a strict hierarchy. Lioness were the providers, they hurt for the king and they don’t have a mane like males. The Male is the dominant gender. Lions are the ultimate predator and play a big role in the decline in the Cheetah and Wild Dog population.

The lion has the loudest roar of all the big cats. It’s so loud it can reach 114 decibels (at a distance of around one meter) and can be heard from as far away as five miles (8km). A lion’s roar is so loud because its vocal folds form a square shape. This shape essentially stabilizes the vocal cords, enabling them to better respond to the passing air. That way, lions can produce loud roars without exerting too much pressure on their lungs.
