India is one and its citizens unite as one to combat every disaster that comes its way, whether it be the deadly floods or the avian flu pandemic. Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor has offered assistance to the flood-affected Assam people amidst the worst flood situation the state has ever seen. In order to help those devastated by the floods in Assam, Kapoor has teamed up with the Taj Hotels and the World Kitchen Centre. On Sunday, Kapoor posted a message to Instagram with the caption, “Along with @wckitchen and @tajhotels, 1200 meals provided in flood-affected districts in Assam.” Vanilla Cake, Khichdi, Begun Bhaja, Mixed Sabji, and some juice were on the menu today.
Besides a photo of the kitchen setup and other things, he also provided a photograph of the meals that were packed. Along with praying for them, Kapoor expressed safety concerns for the state’s flood victims. He stated, “We stand with our brothers and sisters in Assam and thoughts as well as prayers continue to go out for their protection.
The death toll from flooding in the state has risen to 126 with reports of five additional deaths in the last day. Official sources state that there was one death each in the districts of Barpeta, Cachar, Darrang, Karimganj, and Morigaon. Four kids and a girl are among the group’s five members. The previous 24 hours have seen the missing of two more people, though.
