Assam: Junior Engineer Caught Red Handed In Taking Bribe in Dispur Guwahati
On Wednesday, the Assam Police Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing caught Debashis Das, JE, Directorate of Municipal Administration for taking a bribe of Rs 25,000.
“Today, Debashis Das, JE, Directorate of Municipal Administration has been caught red-handed by the team of the @DIR VAC ASSAM while collecting a bribe of INR 25000 at his office located in Dispur, Guwahati,” Assam Special DGP GP Singh tweeted.
According to reports, Debashis Das approached a Tezpur resident named Kirtikamal Tamuli for money in order to release funds for the construction of a road in 2020. Kirtikamal then contacted the vigilance wing, who nabbed him red-handed following an investigation.
However, despite the chief minister’s warnings, government officials are still taking bribes. Previously, Sarma had urged government officials and the public to be aware of people who take bribes and to avoid giving exceptional money or bribe money to such people.
