Biplab Deb named as the BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidate for Tripura
Biplab Deb has been named as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s nominee for the upcoming byelections for the Rajya Sabha from Tripura, the party said on Friday. The statement was made shortly after the saffron party appointed former Tripura chief minister Deb to lead the state of Haryana.
On March 9, 2018, he was sworn in as Tripura’s 10th Chief Minister, and on May 14, 2022, he announced his resignation. Manik Saha then succeeded him, and on May 15 he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tripura.
Thanks to PM Modi, the BJP, JP Nadda, and Amit Shah Ji for putting me forward as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat representing Tripura, Mr. Deb tweeted. “I am committed to working for the development and welfare of Tripura and its people.”
The dates for the by-election to fill Manik Saha’s vacant Rajya Sabha seat have been released by the Indian Election Commission. On September 22, 2022, this election will be held.
Elections will be held in the northeastern state of Tripura the following year. The year 2023 will be full of electoral contests, with states like Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland heading to the polls in the first part of the year. The BJP is eyeing creating a second term strong administration, while the opposition seems to be backing support from Mamata Banerjee-led TMC.
