China developed a village in Arunachal Pradesh after exceeding the Assam Rifles post in 1959
“The village near the disputed boundary in Upper Subansiri district is in territory controlled by China,” security sources said on Tuesday, referring to a Pentagon assessment that indicated China had intruded 4.5 kilometers into Arunachal Pradesh’s borders.
The ‘large 100-home civilian village’ mentioned in the Pentagon report to the US Congress “has been built by China in an area that was occupied by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) after overrunning an Assam Rifles post in 1959, in an operation known as the Longju incident along the border in Arunachal Pradesh,” according to security sources.
“For years, they’ve maintained an army post in the region, and various constructions undertaken by the Chinese haven’t happened in a short time,” sources said, referring to the Chinese village near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) along the India-China border mentioned in the “US dept of defense report on China.”
“China has developed a huge 100-home civilian hamlet inside disputed territory between the Tibet Autonomous Region and India’s Arunachal Pradesh,” the US Department of Defense alleged in its yearly report to Congress on military developments involving China.
“In the eastern sector of the LAC, China developed a huge 100-home civilian hamlet inside disputed territory between China’s Tibet Autonomous Region and India’s Arunachal Pradesh state in 2020. The Indian government has been concerned about these and other infrastructure development projects along the India-China border, according to the Pentagon.
China has attempted to blame India for instigating the impasse by blaming India’s “increasing infrastructure development” near the LAC, according to the sources.
