Two Airline Engineers Of IndiGo Hospitalized After Struck By Lightning At Nagpur Airport
Two airline engineers of IndiGo were struck by lightning and injured while they were carrying out routine checks on a flight that had landed at Nagpur’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International airport on Saturday.
Amid bad weather, the Ahmedabad-Nagpur flight was carrying out routine checks on the aircraft and landed at Nagpur airport at around 5:35 p.m. The injured two technical staff, Amit Ambetkar and Rishi Singh needed immediate medical attention. Ambatkar was unconscious after the stuck and both had to be rushed to Kingsway Hospital.
According to airport sources, the lightning strike was assumed that be from the aircraft’s tail end. while the structure was safe for the passenger inside, the maintenance staff who were proximity were hit. However, no final report on the incident has been filed yet.
A statement issued by IndiGo confirmed the incident, it read ” There was a lightning strike observed on the Indigo ATR aircraft parked at Nagpur airport. Two of our technical staff were affected and were immediately given medical attention”.
