External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar received a call from his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba on Friday, amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Kuleba provided his view of the current scenario in Ukraine on Twitter, according to Jaishankar. India, according to Jaishankar, favours diplomacy and negotiation as a means of resolving the conflict.
Meanwhile, India has established camps on Ukraine’s borders with Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia in order to evacuate stranded nationals.
The Indian Embassy in Kyiv has encouraged Indian nationals to begin moving towards the bordering areas so that they can be securely evacuated after Ukraine closed its airspace after Russia initiated a military incursion in the country on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council is set to vote on a draft resolution on Russia’s military action in Ukraine and the growing crisis in the eastern European country on Friday evening. The draft resolution is expected to strongly condemn Russia’s military action in Ukraine, which has sparked widespread indignation among Western powers.
