FIR on Sadhguru, Assam’s CM, over night safari at Kaziranga national park: CM denies allegations
When two activists filed a FIR against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah for entering the Kaziranga National Park after the park’s established visiting hours, the Assam Chief Minister found himself in hot water. The activists claimed in a statement that the Assam CM, Jaggi Vasudev, and Jayanta Malla Baruah broke the Wildlife Protection Law of 1972 when they drove into the park after the designated tourist window, which closes at 4:30 PM, to take a jungle safari.
The CM of Assam has categorically denied all of the accusations and asserted that there is no law prohibiting nighttime visits to the national park.
Sadhguru, a spiritual figurehead, and Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, have each been named in a first-instance report (FIR) for allegedly breaking the laws regarding jeep safaris in the Kaziranga national park. The villagers living close to the Kaziranga national park filed the FIR at the Bokakhat police station in the Golaghat district of Assam.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, and Sadhguru, also known as Jaggi Vasudev, have drawn criticism for taking a safari in the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Saturday night. On Saturday night, Sadhguru, who had traveled to Kaziranga to kick off the three-day Chintan Shivir event hosted by the Assam government, led a vehicle safari from Mihimukh.
