Heartbreaking picture of an elderly man joining the Ukrainian army goes viral; says he’s doing it for his Grandkids.

Amidst the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia, social media is flooded with heart-wrenching photos of destruction done in Ukraine and its citizens. From a viral picture of a couple saying goodbye at a subway station in Ukraine, to a father and daughter crying and hugging each other, the scenes have shocked people. At the same time, now the picture of an 80-year-old man standing in line to join the Ukrainian army is going viral. In this picture shared on Twitter by the former First Lady Kateryna Yushchenko, shows an elderly man standing with a bag, ready to join the army. The contents in the bag will surely bring tears to your eyes. The old man said he was doing it for his grandchildren.

Yushchenko posted the photo on Twitter on Thursday night and wrote “Someone posted a photo of this 80-year-old who showed up to join the army, carrying with him a small case with 2 t-shirts, a pair of extra pants, a toothbrush and a few sandwiches for lunch. He said he was doing it for his grandkids”.

It was not clear where the picture was taken, but it has so far got more than 2.78 lakh likes and is going viral around the world since Friday. The photograph has been shared by over 39,000 users on Twitter.

People couldn’t stop appreciating the brave man’s love for his country. Many simply shared messages of peace in the comments section.

Earlier on Friday, a video of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy filming himself with aides on the streets of the capital and vowing to defend Ukraine’s independence was going viral.
