Affidavit filed by Manipur Tribal Forum in SC over continued killings despite assurances by the Center

Manipur Tribal Forum files affidavit in SC despite Centre's assurances

The federal government's claims that steps are being taken to stop the violence appear to be falling on deaf ears as Manipur continues to boil over with continuous deaths, villages being burned down, and public property being burned and damaged.

The Manipur Tribal Forum took notice of the situation and submitted a new affidavit telling the Supreme Court (SC) of the series of horrible killings, vandalism, and arson carried out by outlaws, but no arrests or FIR have yet been made in the instances.

The Manipur Tribal Forum has listed the number of killings that are still ongoing due to the state's tumultuous environment and the fact that offenders are openly prowling the state with high-tech weapons and ammunition, but no investigation has been launched despite assurances from the federal government and orders from the Supreme Court.

The Tribal Forum informed the Apex Court of the current scenario in the state by providing a list of 107 names of people who were reportedly killed by miscreants in Manipur.

David Thiek Hmar, a 35-year-old member of the Kuki-Zo tribe, was brutally killed and beheaded by armed criminals in Langza Village, Churachandpur District, Manipur, reported to the Forum.

The Tribal Forum has appealed to the Apex Court to make sure that proper arrangements are made in the relief camps by providing all necessary amenities, including food and medical care, and to take the necessary steps for the rehabilitation of displaced people. The protection of religious sites has also been requested by the forum.
