In a startling incident, police raided a brothel in a farmhouse outside of Tura that was allegedly run by state BJP vice president and Tura MDC Bernard R Marak. A posse of police officers raided the hideout on Friday night and apprehended 68 men and women, many of whom were discovered naked.
Bernard Marak, a surrendering underground activist who is thought to be the kingpin, is currently on the run. Police are making every effort to find him.

In a press release, Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore said, “Shockingly, five children—four boys and one girl—were also discovered imprisoned in filthy, cabin-like spaces. All of them, he claimed, were shocked and unable to talk properly.
He stated that all of the children had been given to the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) for safe custody and any additional required legal action.

According to the police’s findings, it appeared from the setup that Bernard and his companions were running it as a brothel, according to the statement.
All 73 people who were being held have been arrested by the police and sent to court after Bernard was charged with violating the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act of 1956.
“He (Bernard) was orally ordered to cooperate with the investigation and hand himself in to the Shillong Sadar PS. He hasn’t cooperated, though, and has managed to avoid capture. According to the police announcement, searches are being done as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.
