Meghalaya's Irene Dkhar is Crowned 'Miss Northeast 2022'

Irene Dkhar of Meghalaya was crowned "Miss Northeast 2022" on Thursday during an impressive ceremony conducted in the cultural centre in Kohima. The winner of the competition, which had 15 participants from the eight northeastern states, was Dkhar. The beauty queen's final response, in which she argued that, if she had the chance to talk with world leaders, it would be important to address mental health concerns among young people as a social issue, had handed her the victory.

Along with a trophy, gift baskets, and a sum of Rs. 1.5 lakh, the new Miss Northeast was awarded. Eshanee Hatimuria of Assam and Dyna Jomo of Arunachal Pradesh, the first and second runners-up, were next to her. Jomo received Rs. 70,000, compared to Rs. 1 lakh for Hatimuria.

The judges also selected Jomo as Miss Multimedia, Hatimuria as Miss Photogenic and Miss Talent, and Dkhar as Miss Perfect Teen. Manasha Devi Sapam of Manipur won the title of Queen of Hearts, while Lika Chophy of Nagaland won the title of Miss Beautiful Skin.

With the exception of Tripura, which had only one participant, all of the Northeastern states had two winners from the state-level pageants in the final round. This was the inaugural competition, which was sponsored by the Nagaland government and run by the North East Beauty Pageant Organization (NEBPO). On Thursday, it took place at Kohima's Cultural Hall.
