Sandhya Devanathan is named Meta's new India director
Devanathan has worked in the banking, payments, and technology industries for 22 years. She joined Meta in 2016 and has since worked to establish the companies and teams in Singapore and Vietnam as well as the company's Southeast Asian e-commerce activities. India is leading in the uptake of digital technology, and Meta introduced many of its popular products there initially, including Reels and Business Messaging. JioMart, our first end-to-end purchasing experience in India, was only just launched by us on WhatsApp. Marne Levine, chief business officer of Meta, expressed her happiness at welcoming Sandhya to the position of leader for India.
Sandhya Devanathan has been named the new leader of Meta India, according to a Thursday announcement by Facebook-parent Meta.
Ajit Mohan, the country head of Meta India, was hired around a week after he departed to work for rival Snap. Manish Chopra, Director and Head of Partnerships for Facebook India (Meta), is in charge of the company in the interim. Rajiv Aggarwal, director of public policy at Meta India, and Abhijit Bose, head of WhatsApp India, have both left the organisation.
Devanathan, who will report to Dan Neary, vice president of Meta APAC, and serve on the APAC leadership team, will concentrate on integrating the organization's business and revenue priorities.
After assuming her new position on January 1, 2023, she will return to India and take charge of the organisation and strategy for that country.
Additionally, India will now fall under APAC, which is a significant change given that Ajit Mohan previously reported to Menlo Park-based Nicola Mendelsohn, vice president of the company's global business group. Devanathan will lead the organization's India charter and fortify its strategic ties with the nation's top brands, creators, and advertisers as part of her role.
