More Twitter executives are leaving, decimating top management

Officials including Twitter's advertising and marketing chiefs have departed the firm in recent days, according to comments and a source with firsthand knowledge of the situation.

According to Reuters, the resignation follow billionaire Elon Musk's $44 billion buyout of the firm last week, which was followed by his dismissal of CEO Parag Agrawal, Leader Financial Officer Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde.

Sarah Personette, Facebook's chief consumer officer and ad manager, announced her resignation on Tuesday, adding to advertisers' anxiety about how the social media business will alter under Musk.

Dalana Brand, Chief People and Diversity Officer, announced her resignation last week in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday. Nick Caldwell, general manager for core technologies, acknowledged his departure on Twitter, altering his bio to "former Twitter exec" by Monday night.

According to Reuters, Twitter's chief marketing officer Leslie Berland, director of product Jay Sullivan, and vice president of global sales Jean-Philippe Maheu have all departed the company. It was unclear whether they resigned or were asked to leave.

Berland tweeted a blue heart but didn't elaborate.

Caldwell declined to comment further. The other five were not available for comment.

Several employees who talked with Reuters said they have received minimal communication concerning the company's future. Following Twitter's cancellation of a check-in call last week, an all-staff meeting set for Wednesday was cancelled.

Musk's team is meeting with advertisers in New York this week, as the company's increasingly concerned clients voice concerns about the possibility of hazardous content appearing next to their ads.

Since Musk concluded the acquisition, hateful content has risen. According to the Network Contagion Research Institute, which identifies "cyber-social dangers," use of the n-word on Twitter has surged by over 500%.

On Tuesday, a group of over 40 advocacy organisations, including the NAACP and Free Press, addressed an open letter to Twitter's top 20 advertisers, requesting that they drop their ads if Musk undermines content control on the network.

According to a person familiar with the subject, Mediabrands, a unit of ad holding company IPG, has urged its clients to stop advertising on Twitter for the next week until the company provides more specifics about its efforts to maintain trust and safety on the network.

IPG works with well-known advertisers such as Coca-Cola.

Musk has made an attempt to reassure advertising. On Monday, he tweeted, "Twitter's commitment to brand safety remains unchanged."

He earlier stated that he would lift Twitter's ban on former President Donald Trump, who was barred from using the platform due to concerns that he would encourage fresh violence following the U.S. Capitol incident last year.
