Mumbai’s Dharavi reports 107 new Covid cases; largest daily spike ever

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reports 107 new Covid-19 infections in Dharavi, the largest daily increase ever; case total now stands at 7,626, according to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The Dharavi region of Mumbai, which is also Asia’s largest slum area, has reported 107 new COVID19 infections, the highest single-day increase ever. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation stated the tally in the region reached 7,626 with today’s count, while the active count is at 444.

According to a statement released by the state health department on Thursday, 36,265 more patients have tested positive for Covid-19 across Maharashtra in the last 24 hours.

Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar has previously stated that if the number of cases reaches 20,000, the city will be placed under lockdown.
