Assam: A police officer and a Revenue Dept. employee arrested on corruption charges

Officials in Assam said they arrested a police officer and a revenue department employee on Friday in two separate allegations of corruption.

According to them, a concealed camera showed a sub-inspector of Patharkandi Police Station in Karimganj district supposedly seeking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person who had gone to the police station for official business.

When the guy attempted to deliver him a smaller amount of money, the official was observed getting up from his chair and walking away. They stated that after the person agreed to pay the stipulated Rs 5,000, the sub-inspector returned to his desk and promised to take care of the situation.

The sub-inspector demanded the money for “tea and snacks expenditures,” according to the viral footage.

The accused was apprehended and charges were filed against him after the event was discovered on Friday, according to special DGP (Law and Order) GP Singh.
