Following an investigation by London police, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorized charges against Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey for sex offenses including attacks on three men.
The alleged crimes occurred between March 2005 and April 2013, with four incidences occurring in London and one in Gloucestershire, according to police. One man in his 40s and two males in their 30s were involved in the incident.
In a statement, Rosemary Ainslie, the head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said, “The CPS has authorized criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three individuals.”
“One charge of forcing a person to engage in penetrative sexual conduct without their consent has also been approved by the CPS. The decision to charge comes after an assessment of the information acquired during the investigation by the Metropolitan Police.”
If Spacey is apprehended in England or Wales, he will face charges, according to a representative for the Crown Prosecution Service. Since being accused of sexual assault five years ago, Spacey, long one of Hollywood’s top stars, has virtually vanished from public view.
In November 2017, London’s Old Vic theatre said it had received 20 separate allegations of inappropriate conduct by Spacey from 20 men who came into contact with him at the theatre, or in connection with it, between 1995 and 2013.
The 62-year-old actor, who won Oscars for “American Beauty” and “The Usual Suspects,” has previously rejected all allegations of misconduct.
Actor Anthony Rapp is suing Spacey in the United States, accusing him of sexual assault and violence when Rapp was 14 years old in the 1980s.
After the claimed victim refused to testify, Massachusetts prosecutors abandoned a criminal case charging Spacey of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old guy at a bar three years prior.
