VIDEO | Flash floods, cloudburst in Himachal’s Kullu, one feared dead, several washed away
Following a cloudburst on Wednesday at Chojh village in Challal panchayat in the Manikaran valley region of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, a woman lost her life and six others are still unaccounted for. According to reports, the Kullu district’s Malana and Manikaran have been cut off from the rest of the state. Rescue crews have been sent to the region in the wake of the cloudburst, but they are having trouble getting there.
The rapid floods, according to reports, also swept away at least five cattle. Authorities are concerned about further losses because debris was seen floating on the highways near Kasol as a result of the state’s weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Wednesday in addition to the severe rain Kullu has been experiencing since Thursday morning.
