A group of 12 kayakers was stranded and then went over Bosher’s Dam in Richmond, Virginia on Monday afternoon of which 2 were missing.
Nine of the victims were rescued alive by the authorities, and one has been survived by self-rescued, that’s how the ten of them recouped before any tragic events could ever occur to them, according to Richmond Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeffrey Segal.
The mystery of kayakers went missing around 3 p.m. as it was reported on the emergency calls and rescue boats entered the water at 3:22 p.m., Segal said. Where they have learned the dam has a 12-foot fall.
The rescue team discontinued the search for the missing females because it was getting dark and they would resume the investigation Tuesday early morning at 7 a.m., Segal said.
According to the assistant chief, if all the victims who were befallen by the incident knew each other was unspecific and if they were all physically inside the kayaks at the time of the emergency.
The investigators are not sure if those rescued victims were known where the two missing females went vanished before their presence, Segal said. Their last known location was where most of the victims were rescued. This is why the operation is still classified as a rescue and not a recovery, Segal added.
