Over Rs 324 crore released by the center as advance share for Assam floods

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, the Centre has allocated Rs 324.40 crore to Assam as an advance payment from the State Disaster Response Fund for 2022–23. Assam has experienced flooding and landslides in numerous locations this year.

The second tranche of the central share had been requested by the state government from the Ministry of Home Affairs in order to fund relief efforts in the disaster-affected districts.

Sarma tweeted, “This will help tackle the current floods and also in creating arrangements for flood victims.

In addition to suffering property loss and infrastructural damage, floods and mudslides this year have killed 187 people in the state.

For the purpose of implementing relief efforts in the disaster-affected areas, the state government had asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to release the second instalment of the central share.

This will aid in both containing the current floods and providing for flood victims, Sarma tweeted.

This year’s floods and mudslides have killed 187 people in the state, in addition to causing property loss and infrastructural damage.

Some of the flood-affected districts had just been visited by an Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) to evaluate the damage.
