The police have detained a 41-year-old suspect, according to a report in official media. Abe, who served as Japan’s longest-serving Prime Minister, fainted after being shot at while speaking to an election rally in Nara city on Friday.
The event occurred at about 11.30 a.m. (local time), according to official broadcaster NHK, in Nara city while the 67-year-old former leader was giving a speech for a Liberal Democratic Party candidate’s election campaign.
