PM Modi’s Net Satisfaction Rating Shrank to as low as 36

Minister Narendra Modi received a net satisfaction rating of 36 in the CVoter tracker survey since becoming Prime Minister in 2014, according to IANS-CVoter Issues That Dominate India 2021.

This occurred shortly after the defeat in the West Bengal assembly elections and the second wave’s shockwaves. According to the IANS-CVoter tracker, 58% of urban voters and 61% of rural voters were dissatisfied with PM Modi’s electoral campaigning during the second wave of the epidemic.

The pandemic, as well as the ensuing economic troubles, played a significant role in Modi’s net satisfaction rating plummeting to its lowest level in history, at 36%.

The country’s GDP really shrank by more than 7.5 percent in the financial year 2020-21 as a result of the lockdown in 2020 and the disruption of economic operations. Worse, according to CMIE estimates, the jobless rate reached a staggering 22% at one point. No wonder, according to a November 2021 IANS-CVoter tracking survey, while 28.5 percent of respondents stated job losses were no longer a danger, more than 33.5 percent still feared the pink slip.

Even at that low point, Modi was three times more popular than Rahul Gandhi, the opponent.

However, the major immunization campaign that was renewed in June 2021, as well as the swift economic recovery, meant that the Prime Minister’s approval ratings began to climb again, slowly approaching the 50 levels. This is still a far way from the highs seen just after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but the underlying message is that even though Modi is unpopular in India, he is still far more popular than his opponents at the national level.
