On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Assam. He will speak at the ‘Peace, Unity, and Development Rally’ in Diphu, Karbi Anglong District, at 11:00 a.m. During the event, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a number of educational projects.
The Prime Minister will then arrive at Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh about 01:45 PM to dedicate the Dibrugarh Cancer Hospital to the country. He will then attend a public gathering at Khanikar ground in Dibrugarh at around 3 p.m., where he will dedicate six additional cancer hospitals to the nation and lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals.
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, said on Twitter, “Seven cancer hospitals in Assam will be inaugurated as part of the Dibrugarh program, and the foundation stone for seven more cancer hospitals will be laid. This level of healthcare facility improvement in Assam is unmatched, and it would greatly benefit the population.”
With 17 cancer care hospitals scattered across Assam, the Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a joint venture of the state government and Tata Trusts, is building South Asia’s largest affordable cancer care network. Seven hospitals have been constructed as part of Phase 1 of the project, with three more in various stages of construction. Seven new cancer hospitals will be built as part of the project’s second phase.
The Prime Minister will inaugrate seven cancer hospitals completed under phase one of the project to the nation. Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, and Jorhat have all built cancer hospitals. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for phase 2 of the project, which will include the construction of seven new cancer hospitals in Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Tinsukia, and Golaghat.
