Due to an increase in monkeypox cases in other regions of the world, the Rajasthan government has published advice for travelers arriving from Europe, Australia, the United States, and Canada.
The Medical Health Department requested that authorities inspect travelers and send suspect samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune on Monday. The virus that causes monkeypox is more frequent in West and Central Africa.
Passengers traveling to Rajasthan from Europe, Australia, the United States, or Canada will be subjected to screening.
If the suspected traveller’s report for monkeypox virus is positive, contact tracing will be carried out. India has increased surveillance and asked port and airport authorities to be on the lookout for sick people traveling from affected nations.
The health ministry has also directed personnel to conduct thorough thermal screenings on suspected international travellers.
International travelers will be subjected to thermal screening if they have traveled to monkeypox-affected countries in the last 21 days.
The Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Centre for Disease Control have been asked by the Ministry of Health to keep a watchful eye on the situation.
