Request Made to EC to Re-schedule Election Date in Manipur

Like Punjab, political groups in Manipur are now calling for the elections to be rescheduled. On February 27th and 3rd, the state will vote. In the first phase, Manipur will hold elections for 38 of its 60 seats. Congress has already submitted the Election Commission of India (ECI) a letter claiming that February 27 is a Sunday and that voting on that day is against Christian religious sensibility. Tribal students’ unions and tribal groups share this viewpoint.
The majority of Manipur’s tribal people are Christians who attend church on Sundays. As a result, an appeal was made to the Election Commission to reschedule the dates in consideration of the regional residents.
