Seven Medical Students Killed Including BJP MLA’s Son in a Car Accident: Selsura
Seven medical students were killed in a tragic accident in Selsura on Monday night. The son of Maharashtra BJP MLA Vijay Rahangdale was also killed in the accident near Selsura around 11.30 p.m on Monday. The car in which the deceased were traveling fell off a bridge when they were on their way to Wardha, according to Superintendent of Police Prashant Holkar.
According to reports in the media, the accident occurred when the driver of a Mahindra XUV 500 lost control of the vehicle and it went off a bridge. From Deoli, the SUV was traveling to Wardha.
After a wild boar hit their vehicle, the driver reportedly lost control. Wardha Police is yet to issue an official statement. When the incident occurred, the students had just concluded their exams and were on their way back from a party.
Avishkar, son of MLA Vijay Rahangdale of Tirora Constituency in Gondia district, Neeraj Chauhan (First Year MBBS), Nitesh Singh (2015 Intern MBBS), Vivek Nandan (2018, MBBS Final), Pratyush Singh (2017 MBBS), Shubham Jaiswal (2017 MBBS), and Pawan Shakti (2017 MBBS) have been identified as the deceased students (2020 MBBS).
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the students’ deaths and announced ex-gratia payments of Rs.2 lakh to the deceased’s next of kin and Rs.50000 to the injured.
