Suraj Randiv and Chinthaka Jayasinghe, former Sri Lankan cricketers, are currently bus drivers in Melbourne, Australia. They are accompanied by Waddington Mwayenga, a former Zimbabwean cricketer who is currently employed in the same city as a bus driver.
After leaving the sport, Randiv, an off-spinner for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who was a member of Sri Lanka’s playing eleven in the 2011 World Cup final, has decided to work as a bus driver in Australia to support himself.
All-rounder Chinthaka Jayasinghe, another player from Sri Lanka, is also supporting himself by driving buses in Australia.
Five T20 international matches were played by the 42-year-old. In Nagpur in 2009, during a T20 match against India, he made his cricket debut. He also played for Sri Lanka in the 2010 T20 World Cup.
Waddington Mwayenga, a former all-arounder for Zimbabwe, now works as a bus driver in Australia too. He made his Test debut against India in 2005. He batted at number ten in his first game and finished with a score of 14 not out. He also dismissed the captain of the team at the time, Sourav Ganguly.
According to reports, all three of them are employed by Transdev, a business that provides transportation services to city residents and has more than 1,200 employees.
Sri Lanka’s government and economy are currently in shambles, and the people are revolting against it to get things back to normal. However, it is unknown when these cricketers made the decision to leave the country and accept a new job abroad. It is unclear when these cricketers made the decision to quit Sri Lanka and take up another job abroad given the country’s current economic situation.
