A few hours back, the trailer of the most-anticipated film ‘The Kashmir Files’ dropped online and it is making headlines for all the right reasons.
After his phenomenal film The Taskent Files, Director Vivek Agnihotri is back again with yet another spine-chilling story which is based on the true events of the victims of the Kashmir Genocide, the killings of Kashmiri Pandits, and their exodus from the valley.
Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter this morning to announce the trailer release.
The film is led by phenomenal actors like Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty, also starring National Award Winners like Pallavi Joshi, Prakash Belavadi along with other acclaimed names like Darshan Kumar, Bhasha Sumbali, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, and Prithviraj Sarnaik are in the film too.
The trailer of ‘The Kashmir Files’ takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions that surfaced during the tragic incident giving its audiences a glimpse of the terror, confusion, and sheer panic that consumed Kashmir at the time.
The 3 minutes long trailer opens with a scene where Atul Srivastava is seen asking his co-star, who plays the role of a Kashmiri Muslim during the Genocide, how many Kashmiri Pandits he has killed, replying to which he says, 20-25. Further what is disturbing is when Atul asks him if someone asks him to kill his brother and mother, he says, “I will kill them too.”
However, soon we see Darshan Kumaar’s entry in the trailer and the chaos begins. The trailer then moves forward and sees the terror going to the peak in the valley with dreadful rallies and killings. Anupam Kher, who himself is a Kashmiri Pandit, looks astounding when he describes ‘their’ Kashmir to Darshan. Mithun Chakraborty on the other hand, nails his character when he asks Darshan, “Kashmiri Pandits also went through so much, but they never picked up a gun, why?”

Director Vivek Agnihotri says, “Bringing the story of Kashmir Genocide to the big screen is no easy feat and has to be handled with a great deal of sensitivity. This film promises to be an eye-opener and with a talented ensemble cast, audiences can revisit this incident in Indian history through this raw and real narrative.”
Actor Kangana Ranaut who also praised the maker of the film shared the trailer on her Instagram stories and said, “Wow! So beautifully done. Loved that the maker chooses to go past the past and makes our present the very moment in the end. Mudda sirf yeh nahi kya hua, mudda yeh hai ki aage kya hoga? Kya Kashmir Panditon ko wapas milega?”
The Kashmir Files is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and is produced by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners. The gripping drama is all set to release on 11th March 2022.
