Watch: Plane Taking Off From Peru Airport Hits Fire Truck, Bursts Into Flame

On Friday, a LATAM Peru Airlines plane that was taking off from the airport in Lima, the capital of Peru, collided with a firetruck on the runway and caught fire. Social media has been flooded with videos of the fire vehicle and aircraft colliding. In one of the videos, the passenger plane can be seen hurtling down the runway and slamming with a fire engine that is approaching from the other side. Another video shows the plane catching fire and spewing out a cloud of dark smoke.

Twenty passengers were treated in a facility, according to Peru's health ministry, and two of them had significant conditions. Nobody died while on board, including the crew. The ministry added that 61 persons had been transported from Jorge Chavez International Airport to clinics and hospitals close by. It's unclear, though, according to Reuters, if this was a precaution or a result of harm.
Regarding the incident in Lima, LATAM Airlines Peru regrets the passing of 2 firefighters who were in the vehicle that collided with the plane, as reported by Lima Airport Partners, the operator of Jorge Chavez Airport.
