After a video reportedly showing an old woman assaulting a female security officer of her housing society appeared on social media, authorities acknowledged on Thursday that the elderly woman had been the subject of a police complaint.
According to the video, the woman was seen abusing the guard and striking her with a stick.
She apparently objected to the security personnel using a heater and gathering around it to stay warm when the argument started.
She attempted to snap a photo of the heater but was prevented from doing so by the guards, which caused the disagreement to escalate into violence.
The incident took place Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Sector 69, close to the main gate of the Tulip Violet society.
The woman, who was reportedly in her 60s, had driven up to the security office.
She allegedly pulled out a stick from her car and beat Soni Devi, a security guard, while threatening to fire any additional employees who showed up in support of her.
Irshad Ali, the society's hired manager of the maintenance company, took Soni Devi to the Badshahpur Police Station late in the evening and lodged a complaint against the resident.
In response to the complaint, the police had the security guard's health checked.They haven't yet submitted an FIR.
