According to a Kerala Police officer, an Assam inhabitant who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh and was on the run after being listed as the principal accused in a WildLife Act case was apprehended in Tamil Nadu’s Nilambur by a team of police officials from both states. According to the police, Asarath Ali, the accused, was wanted by the Assam police for hunting down a one-horned rhinoceros, and a reward of Rs 5 lakh was offered for information about him.
According to a police official who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the arrest was made on Thursday.
Three days ago, an Assam Police team, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, arrived in the state. During a joint police operation, Asarath Ali was apprehended from a labour camp near this area where migrant workers live. “It was recorded that he was arrested, and the Assam Police took him away after following the legal procedures,” said the official.
