The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, is expected to win a large number of seats in the Assam municipal elections in 2022.
The BJP currently leads in 74 municipal bodies, while the Congress 1 and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) 2 both and others 2.

On March 6, Assam municipal elections were held. The SEC recorded a voter turnout of 70%, with no unpleasant incidents reported. The polling organisation also stated that no request for a re-poll has been received from any section of the state.
