A writ petition has been filed before the Gauhati High Court by a group of candidates, challenging the conduct of the Assam Public Service Commission Competitive (Main) Examination, 2020 scheduled from February 21, 2022.
The plea has been moved by 11 candidates who have alleged that the Assam Public Service Commission has violated Section-II (C) (7) of the Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination (Amendment) Rules, 2019 in notifying the examination dates and issuance of e-admission certificates on February 14.
According to the requirements, the e-admission certificate must be issued three weeks prior to the start of the examination.
“The same is not being followed, and instead, it is being published only seven days before the Combined Competitive (Main) Examination 2020, which is extremely unfair, especially given the fact that a new question pattern has been adopted,” according to the petition. Candidates questioned whether the tests should be held on the same date as the UPSC exams, in addition to criticizing the APSC’s choice to hold them sequentially on February 21, 22, and 23.
Furthermore, because the exam was held during a spike in COVID-19 cases, the plea stated that “a proper opportunity should be given to the infected candidates having mild symptoms or no symptoms at all (asymptomatic) and are otherwise capable of writing the examination, but no notification has been issued in this regard.”
In addition, the petition questioned the exam’s conduct, claiming that the Assam Public Service Commission failed to release the exam’s chosen and reject lists of candidates.
