The strike by resident doctors at Delhi’s government-run Safdarjung hospital has resumed in protest of the NEET-PG counseling delays.
The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) stated protests over the government’s failure to meet their three requests will continue until Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya fail to meet the demand.
“First and foremost, we would like the relevant authorities to ensure that we receive a date for counseling as soon as the Supreme Court’s hearing on January 6 concludes. Second, we want an official apology from the authorities for the officers’ mistreatment of the doctors. Third, we demand the cancellation of all FIRs filed against demonstrators “Dr. Manish, the president of FORDA, spoke to the press resident doctors to call off their strike.
“At the Sarojini Nagar police station, we were held. We have decided to continue our protest from Safdarjung Hospital until our demands are met after further deliberation… We returned to Safdarjung due to the night curfew. Dr. Kul Saurabh Kaushik, the general secretary of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, “We will continue our protest from there.”
Meanwhile, a patient’s relative expressed her concern, “We’re having trouble getting medical treatment here,” a patient’s relative told news agency AN, “but the physicians are raising valid demands after working through the Covid-19 pandemic.”
