Farmer celebrate as they leave protest site on Delhi-UP border; watch their celebration

Farmers in Kaushambi, near the Delhi-UP border, celebrate as they leave their protest site. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) called off the year-long protest after the Centre annulled three contentious farm regulations on the first day of Parliament’s winter session.

The farmers’ movement against the three farm regulations has been halted, not withdrawn, according to farmer leader Rakesh Tikait. Tikait praised ‘everyone’ who supported the protests against the three farm laws as the last few groups of protesting farmers left the protest sites, probably for the first time since the protests against farm legislation began.

“I appreciate everyone who has helped us thus far. I’d want to thank the folks who ran langars and the villages who brought us necessities. Following the repeal of three farm laws, talks have begun with the Centre. Rather than being withdrawn, our movement has been suspended “Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Tikait stated.
