FIR against Amazon sellers for Indian flag-themed shoes…
According to a senior police officer, the Madhya Pradesh police on Tuesday filed a criminal complaint against sellers on Amazon’s shopping platform for selling Indian flag-themed shoes, T-shirts, and other fashion accessories.
After home minister Narottam Mishra’s directives, Bhopal commissioner of police Makrand Deouskar said the complaint was recorded under section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and section 505 (2) of the IPC (creating or fostering enmity, animosity, or ill-will amongst classes).
The case was lodged by the crime section, which will lead the investigation, according to Deouskar.
“It has come to my notice that the online platform is utilizing the national flag for the sale of its items,” Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said earlier in the day at a press conference. It’s so revolting that it’s even been used on shoes. I’ve directed the director-general of police (DGP) to take action by filing a formal complaint against Amazon’s owners.”
“On the surface, this scenario appears to be a flag code violation, which is painful. “At any cost, insults to the nation will not be accepted,” he stressed.
