Homely welcome of PM in Rome “Narendra Bhai Kem Chho!” shouted the crowd
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Rome for a two-day G-20 summit that will focus on sustainable development and climate change. The meeting’s theme is “People, Planet, and Prosperity.” ahead of his visits to Italy and the United Kingdom for the G20 meeting and the COP-26 World Leaders’ Summit. The PM earlier announced that he will hold discussions on global economic and health recovery from the pandemic in Rome and that he will highlight the need to comprehensively address climate change issues, including equitable distribution of carbon space, in Glasgow.
The inhabitants of Rome, on the other hand, offered the Prime Minister a friendly and welcoming greeting.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respect to Mahatma Gandhi at the “Piazza Gandhi,” where he was warmly received by a group of Indians who chanted Sanskrit chants and spoke to him in Gujarati while in Rome for the G-20 conference.
As PM Modi engaged with people holding little Indian flags in Piazza Gandhi, chants of “Modi, Modi” could be heard. People’s cheers for the Indian demonstrated their admiration and regard for him.
The Prime Minister listened with folded hands while a group recited Sanskrit shlokas and also repeated “Om Namah Shivay” with them.
“Bharat Mata Ki Jai” was also shouted by the throng.
One voice shouted, “Narendra Bhai Kem Chho!” With a smile, he said, “Maja ma chho.”
When we learn that an Indian, no matter where he lives in the world, never forgets his roots, it is a truly heartfelt emotion. There is no better example than the warm reception given to the Indian Prime Minister in Rome.
